New Learning Tool - Interactive Video / Transcript Viewer

Filed under: Learning Tool — timwang @ 09:33:25 pm

This is an open source application developed by the First Nations Studies Program at the University of British Columbia which synchronizes the video/audio file with transcripts. You can also "virtually cut" the video clip into "sessions" and easily explore through the entire archive. Every "session" is well defined in the meta-data perspective thus users can easily search through the video collection. The search function will allow the user to locate a particular section of the video and watch the "virtually cut" version on the fly. Check out the demo video archives produced with the tool:

Very cool. What platform is this based? Is the transcribing done automatically by the program?

Hi Ray, Thanks. It is done using mainly Java Scripts. I don't know how was the transcript done, but it is not done by the synchronization program.
